Soundway steps back into Africa with thirty-three original and previously un-reissued tracks from Ghana delivering a follow on of sorts from the hugely successful CD/LP Nigeria Special.

Ghana Special represents nearly ten years of on-going research in and around the cities of Accra, Tema, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Kumasi, knocking on musician’s doors and visiting ex-distributors, DJs, collectors, manufacturers and shop owners who helped piece the story together.

The roots of this project goes back to a pair of albums named Ghana Soundz (Volumes 1 and 2), which focussed solely on the ‘funkier’ side of the same period. Alongside new artists and groups, some other works of the many musicians and producers Cleret met whilst researching those records are also included here. Many of these tracks have remained only in people’s memories or in collections of LPs that sit unplayed: until now of course.

Ghana Special comes as 5LP vinyl box set.

This is the first volume of the Neil Young Archives series of box sets, produced by Neil Young himself.  This series is the definitive, comprehensive, chronological survey of his entire body of work. Volume I covers the period from his earliest recordings with the Squires in Winnipeg, 1963, through to his classic 1972 album, Harvest and beyond, including studio and live tracks with the legendary Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Neil Young with Crazy Horse. This CD edition contains 8 discs, each in its own custom sleeve, with a total of 116 tracks, all presented in HDCD quality sound, and featuring over 40 previously unreleased songs, versions, mixes, or rare tracks. This edition is housed in a custom disc keeper holding the 8 sleeved discs, a descriptive booklet, and a foldout archives poster.

Gelimiteerd deluxe vinyl!!

This vinyl reissue on the bands Icelandic label exactly replicates the EMI release but has been remastered using Direct Metal Mastering and manufactured on 200g vinyl.  This release is limited to 2000 copies.

The vinyl is simply a must-have.  On heavyweight vinyl – the package consists of 2 x 12″ vinyls and one 10″ etched vinyl. (the 10″ vinyl contains the etching on one side, with mílanó on the reverse side. the 2×12″ vinyls contain the rest of the album). The packaging is faultless, the cover holds disc 1, the middle section holds disc 3, and the back cover holds disc 2.

‘Takk’ is the fourth album by the Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Ros. After the huge international success of their previous two efforts, the band have returned with an album that transcends the boundaries of even the most unconventional realms of post-rock, cementing the band’s reputation as musicalvisionaries.  The eagerly anticipated major-label album debut of Iceland’s Sigur Ros – a beautifully glacial, majestic, often epic affair that should keep them in good stead with their ever-expanding fanbase. Set to become a classic collectors item!

Crash Course In Science – Vinyl Box – Vinyl On Demand  

     Legendary Minimal-Synth/Wave-Band from Philadelphia formed in 1979. Choosing toy instruments and live drums out of necessity, CCIS began by experimenting with a series of recording devices. The toy instruments gave way to crude drum machines and “Frankenstein“-type homemade instruments. Their first 7“ (also included with bonus tracks in this set) introduced listeners to a noisy, unpredictable world. This 7” went on to become a classic minimal-synth record that should be included in any vinyl-collection. In 1981 they took a new direction with a darker, more sinister sound. The result was the 12“ “Signals from Pier Thirteen” (also included in this set are 8 unreleased demo tracks from this period). The songs “Cardboard Lamb” and “Flying Turns” gained exposure through club play during the 80’s and still sound fresh and up-to-date. Two live performance recordings from 1980 and 1981 are also part of this Box-Set, including CCIS opening for the Philip Glass ensemble in Philadelphia. The third LP “Near Marineland” contains completed mixes of previously unreleased studio material (along with some remixes of this material) arranged and produced by John Wicks, CCIS’s original producer.
     After listening to this Box-Set you will be convinced and have no doubts about CCIS being the godfather of 90’s Techno-Music and their ultimate protagonist-role. They remain an inspiration pool for many Elektro bands/artists today.

The XX, four kids from the dubstep heartland of south London, have quietly set up an emotional squat in those spaces, with bedsit-delicate love songs. It’s strange that such a traditional set-up (drums, bass, keys, guitars, voices) has resulted in one of 2009’s most unique debuts. The praise can be laid at the door of the band themselves: synths-and-beats man Jamie Smith produced the album himself and they draw together eclectic materials from avant-garde hip-hop to R&B to pure pop.

Limited 180Gr vinyl, comes in a die-cut cover with folded poster with lyrics insert. Contains a card with a unique code for a free mp3 download of the album. A6 is a vinyl album only bonus track.

Ween – Ween 1996 – 2000 deluxe triple vinyl boxset

afb ween boxThis is a Plain Recordings boxset of three Ween albums as follows:
- 12 Golden Country Greats – 180 GM Brown Vinyl
- The Mollusk – 180 GM Green Vinyl
- White Pepper – 180 GM White Vinyl
The set is contained in a cardboard outer sleeve that looks like wood with the symbol of the “boognish” painted in white paint. It also contains 12″x12″ prints of all the albums cover art. Each album is contained in its own sleeve, a reprinting of the original sleeves of each. The set also contains a black and white postcard sized photo of the members Gene and Dean Ween in white knit sweaters with a dog. There is also a white sticker included with a red outline image of the “boognish.” This is a limited edition set of 1000!! Don’t hesitate, limited stock on this one ……..
